A walk back in time. Enjoyed a 4 night stay. Great local restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance (make sure to try the Italian dive with the garrish white sign just down the street). Stroll through the Smithfield Market for additional pubs by the hospital!

Stayed here on Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Totally impressed with the whole experience. The staff were relaxed, friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was beautiful and full of character with fabulous huge roll-top bath. The public rooms were comfortable and we felt that we were staying in a (very rich) friend's house rather than a hotel. The area is stuffed with bars and restaurants (we dined at Cafe du Marche in Charterhouse Sq. - a 1 minute walk away) and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Fantastic hotel! Friendly, welcoming, intimate, quiet and comfortable. The room (superior double) was large and very tastefully decorated with wonderful antiques. The bathroom was sumptious- original big tub for a lovely soak. Extra details such as the rooms named after characters of the area and a room guide telling the story of Clerkenwell was very illuminating and gave an incredible feel for the place. We had no trouble with noise and slept very soundly after an unusal meal at St Johns (just through St Peters Alley). Coffee in the conservatory and breakfast in bed (they have no restarant which isn't a problem with such great restaurants on the doorstep) made this a wonderul weekend stay. Totally recommended!

Stayed here for one night in August 2002. Lovely hotel, but was noisy outside until the small hours. It is within walking distance of The Eagle pub and Moro (plus other restaurants in Clerkenwell). We would stay there again for the right price (paid 115 for a double room)
